Today, Wednesday 11th November, Winterbourne Boys' Academy held its own Armistice Day ceremony.
To ensure that pupils were aware of why we remember the occasion, the assembly focus was Remembrance Sunday. At 10:50 am, the whole school gathered on the playground for our ceremony. Two of our Year 6 pupils eloquently read poems to the whole school related to the important occasion. After the reading of the poems, our Headteacher spoke to our pupils and collectively listened to ‘The Last Post’, before the entire school observed a two-minute silence in memory of all those brave men and women.
We were very impressed with the engagement from our pupils for this solemn occasion.
